Questions, a theme where the Pre-order button doesn't switch, or a feature you need? Email support@stickermint.com with your store's .myshopify.com address and we'll reply within one business day.
Getting started
- Install Mint Preorder from the Shopify App Store and open it from your Shopify admin.
- Click New campaign, choose products (or open a product in the picker to choose only some variants), set a ships-by date and click Save. The pre-order option is added to those products straight away.
- In the campaign, check the When out of stock column. Variants marked Sold out at 0 need "Continue selling when out of stock": click the button under the product and confirm.
- On the app's home page click Add block in theme editor. The Pre-order button block is added to your product page: drag it next to the buy buttons and click Save.
You can also add a product to a campaign from the product page in your Shopify admin: in the Purchase options card, choose Mint Preorder.
How the button switches
- Only when out of stock (recommended for restocks): a variant is sold as a pre-order when Shopify tracks its inventory and it's at 0 or below. In-stock variants keep a normal Add to cart button.
- Always (for launches): every variant in the campaign is sold as a pre-order.
- A sold-out variant with "Continue selling when out of stock" off can't be bought at all, so it shows Sold out instead of Pre-order.
- Variants that don't track inventory never count as out of stock. Use Always for them, or turn on tracking.
Payment, shipping and orders
- Shoppers pay the full price at checkout. Deposits with a later balance charge aren't available yet.
- The pre-order plan name (for example "Pre-order, ships by November 15, 2026") shows on the cart line, at checkout, on the order and in the order confirmation. The ships-by date is saved on the order as its expected fulfilment date.
- With Reduce stock: when the order is placed, stock goes below zero as pre-orders arrive. The app shows those units as "waiting for stock". When your shipment arrives, add the stock in Shopify and fulfil the orders as usual.
- Max per order is enforced at checkout: a shopper can't check out with more pre-order units of one item than your limit.
The Pre-order button isn't showing?
- Check the Pre-order button block is on your live theme's product template, next to the buy buttons.
- Check the campaign is Live on the app's home page (not Paused, Scheduled, Ended or held by the Free plan).
- In "only when out of stock" mode, select a variant at 0 stock that has "Continue selling when out of stock" on.
- Quick-add buttons on collection pages and "Buy it now" don't go through the block, so they add items without the pre-order plan. The block hides Buy it now while a pre-order applies; turn off quick add in your theme if you use it for pre-order products.
- A product can be in one active campaign at a time.
Scheduling (Pro)
Campaigns can start and end automatically at a date and time in your store's timezone. Outside the schedule the pre-order option is removed from the products, so nobody can pre-order early or late. Changes apply within 5 minutes of the set time.
Billing
Pro is billed through Shopify at $9.99/month after a 7-day free trial. Cancel anytime from the app's Plans page or by uninstalling the app, and you won't be charged again. If you cancel, your campaigns are kept; the oldest one without a schedule stays live and the others are paused.
Uninstalling
Pause your campaigns before you uninstall so the pre-order options are removed from your products, and turn "Continue selling when out of stock" off again for variants that shouldn't oversell. Orders already placed keep their pre-order details.
