Privacy policy
Last updated September 29, 2026
Mint Preorder is a Shopify app made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app collects when a merchant installs it, how we use it, and how it's deleted.
The short version
- We store the pre-order campaigns you create: names, the products and variants you pick (IDs and titles), ships-by dates, button and note texts, terms, limits and schedules.
- We don't collect or store any personal information about your customers, and we don't read your orders. The storefront script runs in the shopper's browser and never sends anything to our servers.
- We don't use cookies or trackers on your storefront, and we never sell or share your data.
- When you uninstall, everything we hold about your store is deleted.
Permissions we ask Shopify for
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Write products and write purchase options | To create the pre-order purchase option (a Shopify "selling plan") for each live campaign and attach it to the products you pick, and, only when you click the button for it, to turn "Continue selling when out of stock" on or off for variants you choose. |
| Read inventory | To show each variant's available stock in the app and count units sold below zero stock. |
| Write validations | To turn on the checkout rule that enforces your "max pre-order units per order" limits. |
We also read your store's timezone (for schedules) and your Mint Preorder subscription status from Shopify. We can't see your orders, customers or payments, and we don't change your themes.
What we collect
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Your store's domain and a Shopify access token | To connect to your store when you use the app, and to start and end scheduled campaigns on time. |
| Your campaigns: names, selected products and variants, ships-by dates, texts, terms, limits and schedules | To show them in the app and apply them to your store: as pre-order purchase options on your products, and as settings in metafields owned by the app that your theme and checkout read directly. |
| The IDs of the purchase options we created, your timezone and your plan | To keep your store in step with your campaigns and decide which features to turn on. Payments are handled entirely by Shopify. |
Shoppers and the storefront
On your storefront, the Mint Preorder block uses data your theme already has (the product, its variants and their stock) to switch the button to Pre-order and add the pre-order plan to the cart. Nothing is sent to us and nothing is stored in the shopper's browser. The pre-order plan becomes part of the order in Shopify, like any other order detail; we don't receive it. We don't receive, store or process customer personal data, and we respond to Shopify's customer data request and deletion webhooks as required: there is nothing for us to return or delete.
Where data is stored
The app runs on Cloudflare (hosting and database) and connects to Shopify's APIs. Data is encrypted in transit. We don't use any other third-party services, analytics or advertising.
Retention and deletion
We keep your campaigns while the app is installed. When you uninstall, your access token is deleted immediately and the Pre-order button block stops showing. Shopify then asks us to erase your store's data 48 hours later, at which point everything we hold is permanently deleted. Orders that were placed as pre-orders keep their pre-order details in Shopify. You can also email us to request deletion at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you are, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about your store. Contact us and we'll respond within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
